The October 2026 Course is full for Learn to Sail course for Adults and older teens

The Next course should run in February 2027.  Dates will be confirmed closer to the date.  If you can not make the new dates you can get a refund for fees paid for moved to the next course that we run.

This Course runs every Saturday morning for 6 weeks between 8.30 - 12.

This course aims to provide a fun, safe and affordable way to get into sailing. 

Course Prerequisites:
Water confident

This course is designed for participants who wish to have fun and learn the basics of sailing.

Event will run from  8.30am to Noon. (tbc)

You will learn Boat Handling Skills, Confidence,  Safety and Sailing Theory

Please bring your Enthusiasm and Adventure Spirit.

• NOTE: you will be asked 'New to Australian Sailing' (if you dont have an Australian Sailing Number)
• Then choose: New Member
• Then choose: Course Participant (to register for insurance) - this is FREE to get your Australian Sailing Number
• Then you will be asked to register for the course and pay for the course at the end.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate. 

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
