Celebrate by the Bay at Geographe Bay Yacht Club!

Planning a birthday celebration, family gathering or special occasion? With beautiful waterfront views across Geographe Bay and a relaxed coastal atmosphere, GBYC is a wonderful place to bring family and friends together.

As a not-for-profit sporting club, our facilities are available for private functions as a benefit for our members. However, GBYC is a members' club, not a tavern or a public function centre. Our facilities operate within our club rules and liquor licence conditions, and we prioritise providing a great experience for our members and their guests.

Planning a Function? Here's What You Need to Know

To ensure your function meets our requirements, please note the following:

• Groups of more than 15 people: Must be arranged through our Office as a formal venue hire.

• Catering: Guests wishing to consume alcohol must be provided with a meal in accordance with our liquor licence conditions. Catering must be arranged through our onsite restaurant, Southern Flavours. Outside catering and BYO food are not permitted unless authorised by the club.

• Alcohol: BYO alcohol is not permitted. All functions must comply with our club liquor licence and venue hire conditions.

• Fees: Venue hire fees apply to all private functions.  As a community minded club we do offer discoutned rates to not-for-profit and charity organisations.

All catering arrangements, fees and booking conditions must be confirmed with our Administration Office before your function is approved.

Our Club, Our Members, Our Sailing

Our primary purpose is sailing! During the sailing season, Saturdays are dedicated to racing, with sailors returning to the club in the afternoon to relax, socialise and celebrate the day's results.

Venue hire is not available during sailing events.

However, partial venue hire may be possible on occasion, provided it does not interfere with sailing activities, presentations or our members' enjoyment of the club. These requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis and require prior approval.

Friday nights are also an important part of our club community, with members enjoying dinner, our Members Draw and a catch-up with friends. Our Sunday Sessions bring live music, food and relaxed afternoons by the bay.

These are special times for our members, and exclusive venue hire for weddings or private functions is not available during these activities. Our sailing programme and members' enjoyment of the club always come first.

Our club is built on a love of sailing, community spirit and the dedication of our members and volunteers. 

As a not-for-profit club, all membership fees and fundraising go directly back into maintaining and improving our facilities and essential infrastructure. We ask everyone who uses our venue to respect our club, support our community and help us keep it sailing for generations to come.
