Race Week 2010 a Great Success!

WA's largest yachting regatta has come and gone for another year but the great memories will live on with the record number of yachties who sailed throughout the week. Over 112 boats participated in the event this year, a record number, and with close to perfect conditions sailing for about 50 hours during the week was enjoyed by all.

With some great wins and monstorous efforts put in by close to 1000 sailors, they still found time to enjoy thefrontpicsocial side of Race Week. The Shore Leave Lunch at Palmer Wines, Ladies Lunch at the Equinox and the Full Sail Fiesta were all a lead up to the final presentation night.

Competitors, sponsors, family and friends enjoyed an informal meal, drinks and presentations at the Geographe Bay Yacht Club in Busselton. Among the guests-of-honour at the close of Race Week were South West parliamentarians Troy Buswell and Barry House. It was one of the hottest evenings of summer which made the guests appreciate the venue on the shores of the bay with a cooling southerly.

Prior to the presentations, Fusion Jewellers auctioned three amazing pieces of jewellery with the considerable proceeds going to the club to assist in next years event. Guests enjoyed the evening after a hard week of sailing and are already gearing up to come back next year!

We must mention though, that the success of this event is testament to all the volunteers who put endless hours into making it happen. Thanks must go to the GBYC Committee, The On Water Crew, Sponsors and all those who contributed their time!
